March Look Fantastic Beauty Box

Today's YouTube video is something I have never done...

I was super excited so I apologise for the terrible video but you can see my honest first impressions.

Look Fantastic were kind enough to give me a 12-month subscription to their beauty box (here) so every month I will be doing an unboxing video... yep, every month for a whole year!

I loved it all and I cannot wait to get the next box. So here is a link to the video;

& my review on the products after testing them all out...

The de-tangle brush is great. I have used it a few times. I can't compare to another brand as I have never had one before but it has come in handy, especially in this smaller size and does the job it should!

I have used this toning 'cream' (it is a liquid and I spilt it everywhere when I first opened it) a few times and I can't say I have noticed any specific difference but I don't really have any cellulite so this could be the issue, plus it states to use it twice a day which I do not have time for - I will keep trying it though and let you know!

So the anti-wrinkle serum was a great bonus to this month package - I gave to my mum for her to try out and she said that she still has wrinkles (ha ha). She likes the feel of it but doesn't believe anything will help her now - she hasn't used it frequently yet thought as she has been ill so we will have to wait and see.

This lip balm is so nice, it really does make your lips so soft. I would definitely recommend this product if you have trouble with dry lips! I don't have a problem with dry lips and I go though sooo many lip balms - I'm forever loosing them and I do prefer the stick versions rather than this squirty type so I wouldn't go out and specifically buy it but it is something I would treat myself to every now and again. Perhaps a lip balm that I keep at home rather than take places in my bag to loose.

This eye liner is absolutely amazing. It really is long lasting. However, I don't really wear eye liner much and when I do I usually use a liquid type, just because that is what I prefer but after several uses of this I could be persuaded to change my mind!

This is the single most amazing product ever. It is so easy to use and is so long lasting. I can see why it is so expensive. Oh and the colour is perfect. I would have never have thought of buying a pencil like this but I do recommend it if your into this type of product. Or maybe even if you're not and you fancy a treat. I don't think you'd regret it.

Thank you so much Look Fantastic. This box definitely has ***** from me!

At the end of the 12 months (a long way away I know) I will be choosing my favorite products and let you know what products I have actually used frequently.

Go and subscribe to my YouTube to see next months unbox!

HOW TO: Fake Tan

Today's post is on fake tan; what type I use and how I do it.

I am by no means a pro but I have had lots of people ask me how I get such a natural looking tan.

The product I use is St Moriz - because it works and its cheap (and its easy for you newbies).

I have tried sooo many different types and brands of tan and this is definitely my favourite.

If I could recommend one thing to you all its to use a moose product because they give a much better finish than a lot of other types; St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse. For me, I use medium if I want a subtle glow and dark when I want a real natural tan.

Basically you put your tanning mitt on and rub the moose in all over.

Any mitt will do - I have never had a bad experience with one, I just buy whatever one is in the shops when I buy a new tanning mousse - I have had Superdrug's own tanning mitt, Boot's own version and a St Moriz one; all are fairly cheap and do the job.

I would make sure you are in the bathroom so you don't get any on the carpet - I actually usually put a towel down and I have no stains on my towel but do it in the bathroom in case.

Don't worry about exfoliating or putting moisturiser in places specifically for fake tanning - it really isn't as technical as some people make out. Although to have nice skin you should be doing this regularly anyway.

This tan comes out dark, which I think is a bonus because you can see clearly where you have done, but you wash it off in the morning so don't panic!

When you do your feet (ankles in particular) and those types of places (knees, elbows...) just make sure to bend and lengthen them so you get all the skin - but don't go over these places a million times worrying about it or you'll get layers of tan there and make them darker than anywhere else!

This might sound complicated but you get used to it - basically just don't worry about it too much and just shove the tan on all over - yes, even your face; it'll turn out fine I promise.

When you get to your armpits, I just go around them (avoid the part where the hair grows).

Now when you get down to your hands (the last part of your body to do) I just use the mitt and do one then swap and do the other - I then wash the mitt (just rinse with water until clear) and so my fingers/hands get wet (try not to splash it all up your arms or anywhere else though).

Then I put moisturiser on my hands and wrists and rub it in, blending the tan from your arm and over your wrists and hands that you have just partially washed off when cleaning the mitt.

Get your PJs on and have a shower in the morning to reveal your natural tan. I do recommend leaving it on for a good 8 hours.

Let me know if you would like a little video on tanning too as it is quite hard to explain!

RECIPE: Chickpea cookies

Here is my recipe for some scrummy chickpea cookies

Serves: Makes roughly 12 cookies like the picture above.

Total time: 30 minutes maximum.

Ingredients
1¼ cups canned chickpeas (which is about one can)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ cup natural peanut butter
¼ cup honey
a pinch of salt
Splash of almond milk (or coconut/soy milk - optional)
½ cup dark chocolate chips

Method
Preheat your oven to 175°C.

Get a couple of baking trays and cover them with baking paper ready to put the cookies on to.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas then put them on a paper towel to roughly dry them.

Combine all the ingredients (except for the chocolate chips) in a food processor and mix until smooth and combined well.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

With either a spoon or wet hands, form into about 1½" balls and press down slightly but not completely flat as the cookies don't really rise.

Bake for about 10 - 15 minutes.

and enjoy!

PS.
Don't forget chickpeas are still carbs so don't go eating them all in one sitting just because they're healthier than ordinary cookies.

Jewellery Haul

So I found these lovely people called Vine and Melrose and had to share with you all my experience and purchases.

Firstly, I have to tell you I have been searching for months for a white choker with a pineapple charm... I was beginning to think I should just make my own.

Then I came across these girls who couldn't be lovelier. Their website had everything I was looking for... and more!

And an even bigger bonus was that they were the cheapest website I had some across, I couldn't believe the bargain prices.

You can customise anything you want - you just email them letting them know what you would like - for instance, I wanted a white necklace on the star (which was black on the website) so they changed that for me no problem. Also, all the cords are adjustable so they can be worn as a choker or a necklace.

Bonus: the delivery was so fast and also so cheap!

What more could you ask for.

Pineapple White Cord Choker here - £2

Opalite Star Pendant Choker here - £2.50

Sandstone Crystal Pendulum Choker here - £3

 Elephant Anklet / Bracelet here - £2.50

Although, unfortunately does not fit my ankle so it will have to be a bracelet.

All in all, I will 100% be purchasing more from their website. I love it all.
Do you like this style necklaces?

Roll neck...

I have a new found love for roll neck tops and dresses. They just look so simple and classy.

I went for this New Look top as it was a bargain at only £9.99 and was exactly what I was looking for.

This type of top goes with almost anything - but my personal favourite matches would be either high waisted jeans or midi skirts.

The outfit is perfect for dinner and drinks; especially for this in between weather when it's still cold out... just make sure to do your makeup after putting it on!

RECIPE: Avocado Prawn Zoodles

Hi everyone,

I apologise for my lack of postings this week - I am currently completing year one of my post grad course and will be fully back next week with loads of exciting new posts!

But in the mean time I thought I would share with you the dinner I made tonight;

Avocado-Basil Prawn Zoodles/Courgetti

Serves: 3.
Total time: 15 minutes.

Ingredients
3 courgettes
1 avocado (or 2 small ones)
1/3 cup Greek yogurt
Prawns (I did one whole small packet)
Sweetcorn (I poured about two handfuls out from my frozen packet)
1 garlic clove
4 tsp lime juice + some for seasoning.
Salt
Pepper
Chili powder
Fresh Basil (approx. 15 leaves for the sauce and a few for garnish).

Method

Prep
Turn your three courgettes into noodles.
Season the prawns with salt, pepper, chili powder and a splash of lime juice (or whatever you prefer).

Sauce
Place all the ingredients (lime, salt, pepper, garlic, basil, avocado and yogurt) in a food processor and pulse until creamy.

Dinner
First, cook your sweetcorn, which I just do in the microwave for 4 minutes.

While this is cooking, it is time to cook the prawns.

Place the zoodles, sauce and sweetcorn in the wok on a very low heat.

Plate up, garnish with the extra basil leaves & you're ready to go.

Enjoy!

If I were to do it again, I would cook the sauce separately and only add a bit to the dish (as it seemed to just double, somehow) and leave the rest in a bowl for people to add when necessary.

You could also have it on top of a nice salad - I think that would be yummy in the summer.
